n Central Coast clay and enamel artist Maggie Pickering, and oil painter from Santa Barbara Judeenne Warren are teaming together as the featured artists for the month of August at Gallery Los Olivos, 2920 Grand Ave., Los Olivos.
Maggie Pickering will be exhibiting figurative sculpture along with an assortment of contemporary clay vessels, and introducing her enamel artwork and jewelry.
Judeenne Warren will be exhibiting her interpretation of “Romantic Impressions.” Her subject matter comes from her love of California, as well as animals and related agriculture themes.
n San Luis Obispo artist Robert Reynolds will be exhibiting his acrylic and watercolor paintings at the Art Center, 1010 Broad St., San Luis Obispo through Sept. 28. A native Californian whose artistic career spans 40 years, his paintings celebrate the luminous natural beauty found in the land and waters of the California Central Coast and the High Sierra.

n Local artist Mark Bryan will exhibit his artwork through Sept. 27 at the Circle of Friends Gallery, 5529 Tunitas, Atascadero. The show “Bread and Circus” featuring a variety of Mark’s work in Giclee prints on canvas.
Bryan’s work has been widely exhibited and featured on numerous satirical and political Web sites across the Untied States and around the world. His work has also appeared in many publications and magazines and illustration and cover art. This fall his well-known painting “Mad Tea Party” will be featured in the movie “Lake View Terrace.”

n Artist John Ramos from Baja, California will be featuring his paintings from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hands Gallery, 777 Higuera St., San Luis Obispo.
Four new limited edition prints will be released that include the spectacular island sunrises on the Sea of Cortez and colorful images from the quaint Baja village of Loreto.
n Voice Acting Classes for TV Cartoons, Animated Feature Films and Multimedia are being offered at Westside Studios in Oceano. Find out what it takes to be a cartoon voice-actor by working out behind the microphone with an industry professional at a six-week workshop. Classes are from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 6. Fee is $225.00.

n Art in the Park at Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first Sunday of the month through Nov. 2. Over 90 artists will feature paintings, sculptures, ceramics, home decoration, jewelry, glass art, textiles, and bath and beauty products.
The event will include gourmet coffee and pastries, Alex’s barbecue, live music, art demonstrations and children’s activities. Admission is free. Dogs are welcome.
n “Pirates of Pirates Cove,” an interactive murder mystery, will play its final performance at 5 p.m. today at The Spyglass Inn Restaurant, 2703 Spyglass Drive, Shell Beach.

n Friends of Hearst Castle is sponsoring a lecture titled “Hearst: The Collector” from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Monday Club in San Luis Obispo. Single tickets are $75.
A preview with exhibition curator Mary L. Levkoff is scheduled at the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts from Nov. 5, 2008 through Feb. 1, 209. This exhibition reunites more than 100 of Hearst’s most significant works of art from around the world.

n The Brown Bag Concert will be held at noon Sept. 5 in Wilson Hall at First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Marsh and Morro streets in San Luis Obispo.
The Clarinet Ensemble from the San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra will be performing. The orchestra recently returned from participating in the prestigious Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival in South Korea.

n A benefit premiering the book “Reaching Out” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6 at Cypress Ridge Pavilion, 1050 Cypress Ridge Parkway, Arroyo Grande. Francisco Jimenez, PhD. will read an excerpt from the book. Award-winning books in the series are “The Circuit” and “Breaking Through.”
Tickets are $100 per person which will include an autographed copy of “Reaching Out.” Proceeds will benefit Central Coast Literacy Council, the Kiwanis of Santa Maria Valley “Literature for Little Ones” program, and St. Mary’s Elementary School Library.

n The Studio Players will open their 2008-09 season with “Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical Sept. 12 through Oct. 5. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 7 p.m. Sundays at the Studio Players Theatre, 116 W. Branch St. in the Village of Arroyo Grande.
The show takes place in the 1960s and tells the story of hippie tribe living in New York City’s Central Park. “Hair” was an extremely powerful and groundbreaking production when it opened on Broadway in 1968. The show is completely relevant to the social, political and economic challenges we all face in our lives today.
Tickets range from $15-$35. Wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres are included in the ticket price. No one under 18 will be admitted unless accompanied by an adult. For reservations, call 473-0377.
